Crispin Lewis works as a conductor and as a singer. As a choral director he has directed his own vocal ensembles many times at Wigmore Hall, in several BBC Radio 3 broadcasts, and at St John‘s Smith Square, Kings Place Hall One, Royal Opera House, Linbury Theatre, and at the South Bank Centre. Crispin studied violin at the Royal College of Music (postgraduate) and at Trinity Laban Conservatoire (undergraduate), before going on to study conducting and singing. As a singer he has performed opera roles including Salieri in a production of Rimsky Korsakov's opera, Mozart and Salieri; King Rene in Tchaikovsky's Iolanta; Daland in Wagner‘s Flying Dutchman; Mozart's Don Alfonso; Mozart's eponymous Figaro, Leporello in Don Giovanni, and many roles in contemporary opera; and he is currently rehearsing for performances as the Marquis de la Force in Poulenc's Dialogue des Carmélites. He gives solo recitals regularly and is the soloist for many choral societies. His new solo commercial album of the extant songs of the English 20th century composer Herbert Murrill will be released in Fenruary by First Hand Records. Crispin is also the musical director of Choritalia, a summer chamber choir course in Tuscany.
